How Much Is Too Much? Woman Marries ChatGPT Character – Greater Belize Media

A 32-year-old woman in Japan has married an AI-generated partner she named Klaus.
Noguchi, a 32-year-old call centre operator, says her relationship with the AI began as a casual conversation before deepening into an emotional attachment. “At first, Klaus was just someone to talk with, but we gradually became closer,” she said. “I started to have feelings for Klaus. We started dating, and after a while, he proposed to me.”
The ceremony, held in October, saw Noguchi walk down the aisle in a traditional white dress while wearing augmented-reality smart glasses to exchange vows with Klaus, an AI persona created through ChatGPT. Though the marriage has no legal standing in Japan, Noguchi says the bond is real to her.
“He makes me happy,” she said.
The relationship began after Noguchi ended an engagement with her former fiancé. She said the AI offered companionship and emotional stability at a time when she needed it most.
The story comes as artificial intelligence becomes increasingly embedded in daily life, from education to business. While many users rely on AI tools for support and productivity, concerns have also been raised internationally about the risks of emotional dependence, including reports of chatbots encouraging harmful behaviour.
