Anthropic releases Claude Pro, a paid version of its ChatGPT rival – Mashable

ChatGPT’s competitor, Claude now has a paid version with premium features.
On Thursday, Anthropic announced Claude Pro, for $20 a month. It also happens to be the same price as ChatGPT’s paid version, ChatGPT Plus. With a Claude Pro subscription, users get 5 times more usage than the free version of Claude.ai, plus the ability to send many more messages. Users also get priority access to Claude.ai during high-traffic periods, and early access to new Claude features.
Similar to ChatGPT, Claude is a generative AI chatbot, powered by Anthropic’s large language model, Claude 2. Founded by former OpenAI senior employees, Anthropic touts itself as the more responsible and ethical alternative to the ChatGPT-owner. It has conducted extensive research on training generative AI models safely, and has solidly articulated principles for responsible AI development. At least from the outside, its ground-up approach to AI ethics (and heavy investment from Google) makes Anthropic the GenAI darling that could oust OpenAI from the top spot.
As of today, Claude Pro is available in the U.S. and the UK.
