Apple to develop ChatGPT-like AI for its services – Caliber.Az
Apple has begun developing an intelligent search service capable of processing user queries in a conversational format.
According to Bloomberg, the project is being handled by a specially formed team called “Answers, Knowledge, and Information.”
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that the new system will resemble OpenAI’s ChatGPT. It will be able to retrieve information from both the internet and the device’s memory, while communicating with users through an interface similar to that of a chatbot.
The development is being led by Apple executive Robby Walker. The team includes specialists who previously worked on the Siri voice assistant. The AI system is expected to be integrated into Apple’s core services — Siri, Spotlight, and Safari.
However, as Gurman notes, Apple does not plan to launch a standalone chatbot. In June, Apple’s Senior Vice President of Software Engineering Craig Federighi confirmed this in an interview with The Wall Street Journal.
