ChatGPT will test users’ knowledge in new ‘study mode’ – Washington Times
OpenAI announced Wednesday a new “study mode” that leads ChatGPT users through their queries step-by-step instead of immediately providing an answer.
“When students engage with study mode, they’re met with guiding questions that calibrate responses to their objective and skill level to help them build deeper understanding. Study mode is designed to be engaging and interactive, and to help students learn something — not just finish something,” OpenAI said in a press release.
OpenAI said that a third of college-age clients are already using ChatGPT, according to CNBC.
The new mode is available to users with “Free, Plus, Pro, [and] Team” plans, and in coming weeks will be rolled out to ChatGPT Edu, which is intended specifically for use by universities.
Study mode is optional for users, including students, who can also just use ChatGPT’s regular functions to get an immediate answer to a question.
OpenAI Vice President of Education Leah Belsky told TechCrunch that the company is not offering parents or school administrators methods to force students or others to use study mode, but that it may create and offer such tools in the future.
