Similar to ChatGPT, but created by Musk’s xAI firm, is Grok. It obtains real-time information via the X platform, formerly known as Twitter. Grok is unique in that it’s acceptable to respond to challenging queries in a witty and even defiant manner. It has only been tested and trained for two months, and it is still quite young. However, xAI claims that with human input, it will improve quickly. Shortly after Musk stated that AI work should halt, someone on Twitter inquired about the release of Grok. Musk responded,
“Knowing that hardly much would change, I signed that letter. All I wanted to say was, let’s take a moment”
The creation of Grok involved leveraging JAX, Rust, and Kubernetes to build a robust system. The xAI team emphasized the significance of a robust system for deep learning research. Rust is useful because it is reliable and operates quickly. The team claims they’re focusing on creating scalable, reliable, and functional training and understanding systems as Grok continues to be updated.
“Grok’s work aims to address issues with existing AI models”
They wish to concentrate on critical thinking, comprehensive tool oversight, employing verification to maintain security, comprehending large amounts of data simultaneously, and improving response to threats. Additionally, they intend to give Grok the ability to comprehend both sound and visual.

Because it answers “spicy” or contentious queries that other AI systems typically avoid, Grok stands out from other AI systems.
xAI claims that it has demonstrated remarkable performance in answering these kinds of questions. Management consultant Satyam Srivastava said that Grok first replied humorously, making jokes about cooking and its possible dangers.
Elon Musk, however, subsequently revealed a more thorough reply from the bot, emphasizing that it’s intended for instructional purposes. According to Srivastava, Grok stands out from the competition in the market by answering queries that other AI solutions typically duck.
The core Grok engine, Grok-1, performs a novel artificial intelligence system well in computer learning tests. It’s not as good as larger models like GPT-4, but it’s still better than some other models like ChatGPT-3.5 and Inflection-1.
As Srivastava put it,
“This indicates that the race for general-purpose artificial intelligence, or GenAI, is about to heat up”
An enormous quantity of material and code is used to teach Grok AI. It contains a wealth of fresh and practical information, particularly regarding human communication. It gains a better understanding of things like sarcasm, jokes, and informal language by absorbing more examples of human speech.
Grok received a C on the Hungarian National High School Math Exam in 2023, demonstrating their aptitude. According to Srivastava, Grok may learn and adapt even more quickly than ChatGPT and Bard in the future as it employs more sophisticated learning techniques.
The founder of Culture Fluid and keynote speaker Sharon Gai raised some concerns regarding Grok’s accuracy, pointing out that the majority of its training data came from Twitter users. She made the point that since anyone may publish anything on Twitter, there is a lot of false information there.
“The main places that ChatGPT finds information are reputable publications, websites, books, and journals”
Gai also mentioned that Elon Musk’s intention to monetize Twitter following his failed attempt to obtain a blue checkmark is what drove him to construct his AI bot. She said that compared to ChatGPT, Musk’s AI might have the benefit of recent data and the capacity to respond to more inquiries.
Taking into account that Musk just obtained a banking license and intends to introduce live streaming services on the platform, this action fits with his broader strategy to transform X into a super app.

Grok is only open to suggestions for improvement from a small number of Americans. Grok will be available to X Premium+ subscribers eventually, according to Musk. It will be given to those who have had the subscription for the longest first.
In Musk’s opinion, the internet ought to be more open and uncensored. He purchased Twitter as a sign that he supports free expression and opposes censoring critical or offensive language. Gai believes Grok will be like that.
