Lakers coach JJ Redick admits he uses ChatGPT to improve – The Big Lead

The Los Angeles Lakers are set for an exciting 2025-26 campaign. While the Oklahoma City Thunder are the reigning champions, it doesn’t feel like their dominance in the NBA is unassailable. And the Lakers, led by a motivated Luka Doncic and the evergreen LeBron James, will fancy their chances going into the new season.
JJ Redick has been rewarded for an excellent first year as Head Coach with a contract extension. A 50-32 record saw the Lakers finish as the third seed in the Western Conference. They lost in the first round to the Minnesota Timberwolves, but other factors contributed to this outcome.

Redick has been vocal about his philosophy; he is obsessed with the game and how his team can improve. And while addressing his process recently, he made a rather surprising admission about artificial intelligence.
JJ Redick’s offseason included time with Rams head coach Sean McVay, Tom Brady and ChatGPT? 🤣

“I do have just a general curiosity about stuff,” Redick told ESPN Los Angeles about his constant desire to learn. “I’m the type of person who spends an hour and a half going down a deep, deep rabbit hole on ChatGPT. It used to be Wikipedia, but now it’s me and my friend Chat.”
“You have to ask yourself a question every morning: What do I need to do to be good at my job? And the answer to that is very different every day.”
While Redick’s constant desire to learn and improve is something that fans will love to hear, his ChatGPT admission may not go over that well. Fans are ruthless during the best of times. The best way to avoid criticism is to ensure that the team starts the season on a winning streak.
