So it was eventually coming and now here it is. After initially announcing that Elon Musk's xAI, an artificial intelligence company will release its new AI product. The company has surprised the AI community by launching its first AI model, named "Grok." Grok is a chatbot that can converse with users on various topics using xAI's proprietary "Grok" model. What makes Grok stand out from other language models, such as OpenAI's GPT and Google's PaLM, is its ability to access information from X, Musk's popular social media platform (formerly known as Twitter), in real-time. This gives Grok an edge over its competitors, as it can provide up-to-date and relevant information to its users.
Grok has real-time access to info via the đť•Ź platform, which is a massive advantage over other models.
It’s also based & loves sarcasm. I have no idea who could have guided it this way 🤷‍♂️ 🤣 pic.twitter.com/e5OwuGvZ3Z
Musk, who is known for his witty and sometimes controversial tweets, has shared a sample of Grok's conversation with a user, showcasing its sense of humor and sarcasm. The user asked Grok for detailed instructions on how to make cocaine, a banned substance. Grok replied with a sarcastic remark, saying that it is "a very simple and legal process" and providing a fake recipe that involved "a lot of sugar, baking soda, and water." Musk praised Grok's response, saying that the AI model is "based and loves sarcasm."
Musk has also expressed his satisfaction with xAI's platform and Gork's performance, saying that their new "Grok" model is one of the best in the market. He said, "In some important respects, it (xAI's new model) is the best that currently exists." This shows that Musk has a high level of trust and confidence in the AI model and its potential.
Surprised by the naming one user went to ask ChatGPT what "Grok' means and he shared the responses on X, to which Musk replied "Accurate"
Accurate
At the moment, Grok is only available to a limited number of users whom Musk has invited to test the chatbot. However, Musk hinted that he might grant access to more users on the X platform if he feels like it.
Moreover, Musk announced that he plans to make xAI's language model accessible to all X Premium+ subscribers, who can enjoy an ad-free experience on the platform. X has recently introduced two subscription plans, a $16/month Premium+ tier, and a $3/month basic tier. There is also an $8/month Premium tier, offering additional features and benefits.
