New Delhi– In a strategic move to strengthen its AI footprint in emerging markets, Meta is reportedly hiring U.S.-based contractors at rates of up to $55 per hour (approximately ₹4,850) to help develop Hindi-language AI chatbots tailored for Indian users, according to a report by Business Insider.
The initiative is part of Meta’s broader push to expand its AI offerings in high-growth regions such as India, Indonesia, and Mexico.
Focus on Culturally Relevant Chatbot Characters
Job listings reviewed by the publication indicate that Meta is working with staffing firms like Crystal Equation and Aquent Talent to recruit contractors for building localized, culturally resonant AI chatbot characters for platforms such as Instagram, Messenger, and WhatsApp.
Applicants are expected to be fluent in Hindi, Indonesian, Spanish, or Portuguese, and possess at least six years of experience in storytelling, character development, and AI content workflows.
While Meta has not officially confirmed the hiring plans, Crystal Equation has publicly advertised Hindi and Indonesian language positions on behalf of Meta. Aquent Talent also posted job listings for Spanish-language roles, referring to a “top social media company.”
Building AI Companions for a Global Audience
The decision to develop region-specific AI chatbots aligns with CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s earlier statements that such bots could help users “complement real-world friendships” by providing relatable, engaging digital companions.
