Queensland’s tourism industry receives a significant boost with a $4 million Accelerated Tourism Business Development Program, offering up to $2000 grants to a number of businesses for training and accreditation, alongside innovations like an AI chatbot and initiatives to enhance competitiveness and meet evolving consumer needs.
Queensland’s tourism operators will now be able to access a dedicated program to support training and accreditation following the announcement at Tourism Week of a $4 million Accelerated Tourism Business Development Program.
Up to 1000 businesses will be able to access $2000 for training and accreditation through the $4 million Accelerated Tourism Business Development Program.
It also includes the addition of an AI chatbot to enhance the Business Queensland website experience, tourism technology and innovation events as well as the roll out of a new Visitor Experience program, the Tourism Technology and Innovation Roadmap and the Queensland Tourism and Hospitality Jobs Portal.
Tourism and Events Queensland CEO Patricia O’Callaghan said for Queensland’s tourism businesses to globally competitive “this is exactly the kind of investment we need.”
Queensland Tourism Industry Council CEO Brett Fraser said investment in tourism was critical to securing the state’s immediate and long-term success.
“We welcome the State Government’s announcement that additional funds will be provided for our industry,” Mr Fraser said.
“We need to ensure that we also have the skills, training, and investment needed to meet evolving consumer demands.”
