The move comes as OpenAI looks to expand deployment of its AI models across consumer tools.

OpenAI on Thursday said it acquired Software Applications Inc., the makers of an AI-powered natural language interface for Mac computers called Sky.
While terms of the deal were not disclosed, the companies said all members of Sky's team will join OpenAI under the agreement.
Although Sky has not yet launched publicly, the product is built to act as an AI companion for Mac users, assisting with tasks such as writing, planning and coding.
It can take actions across applications, understand on-screen content and execute commands through natural language prompts.
The deal comes as OpenAI looks to extend its reach across users' daily workflows and tools, with Sky's technology to be integrated into ChatGPT.
"We're building a future where ChatGPT doesn't just respond to your prompts, it helps you get things done," Nick Turley, vice president and head of ChatGPT, said in a statement. "Sky's deep integration with the Mac accelerates our vision of bringing AI directly into the tools people use every day."
Ari Weinstein, co-founder and CEO of Software Applications, similarly said the deal brings the company's technology to a wider audience.
"We've always wanted computers to be more empowering, customizable and intuitive," Weinstein said in the statement. "With LLMs, we can finally put the pieces together … We're thrilled to join OpenAI to bring that vision to hundreds of millions of people."

The companies added that more updates will be released as Sky is incorporated into ChatGPT.
The deal also extends OpenAI's recent acquisition streak. In September, the company purchased product development startup Statsig for $1.1 billion, following its reported $6 billion acquisition of Jony Ive's AI devices venture io in May.
