OpenAI Launches “Your Year with ChatGPT” for Select Countries – The Mac Observer

Latest news
OpenAI has joined the year-end recap trend with a new feature called “Your Year with ChatGPT.” You get a personalized summary of how you used ChatGPT over the past year. The rollout has started in a few countries, and access depends on your app settings.
When the feature appears, you see a banner as soon as you open the ChatGPT app. Tap it, and the app opens a Stories-style interface. It highlights patterns, usage trends, and small insights from your chats over the last year. You can also share these slides.
The recap only works if you keep saved memory and chat history turned on. If either setting is off, the feature does not appear.
OpenAI confirmed the rollout in a post shared on X. The company said “Your Year with ChatGPT” is now rolling out to users in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia.
OpenAI added that access is gradual. Even if you live in a supported country, you may not see it right away.
The feature works only with individual accounts. It does not support Education, Enterprise, or Team plans. OpenAI describes it as “exclusive to individual accounts,” so business users are left out.
If you meet the requirements but still do not see the banner, OpenAI suggests another option. You can ask ChatGPT directly to show it.
You can try triggering it manually inside the app:
OpenAI says users can “check back throughout the day” if the feature does not appear immediately.
This recap arrives shortly after OpenAI added a holiday Easter egg to ChatGPT. In that interaction, Santa delivers a “good” or “bad” gift based on your behavior over the past year. Together, both features point to OpenAI leaning into more playful, personalized experiences.
If you use ChatGPT regularly and meet the requirements, the recap gives you a quick look at how your year with the AI actually played out.
