Product Manager Who Got Interviewed By An AI Bot Shares Her Experience: ‘Fascinating And Unsettling’ – Mashable India
A Noida-based product manager did the inevitable – an interview conducted by AI. Radhuka Sharma, who has nearly ten years of experience in the tech industry, was invited by a software company to participate in an AI-powered screening interview for a product management position. The virtual interviewer not only assessed her technical skills but also evaluated her appearance, posture, and eye contact during the 20-minute session. Crazy right?
The AI system directed Sharma to sit in a quiet environment with screen sharing enabled for monitoring purposes. A female voice asked specific questions about product management, including how she planned product roadmaps and handled conflicting stakeholder requirements. The system provided a detailed evaluation report that scored her technical knowledge, engagement levels, facial expressions, and professional attire. While Sharma received high marks for her technical abilities, the AI noted that she was not professionally dressed and made only occasional eye contact with the camera. Typical HR behaviour?
Sharma, who had taken a two-month career break to spend time with her young daughter, found the experience both fascinating and unsettling. She will not be moving forward with the job application for another round.
