This Tiny Caribbean Island Of Mere 15,000 People Made Millions On AI Boom Since ChatGPT’s Launch; Here’s How – Mashable India

Anguilla!
This Caribbean paradise just made bank with EC$87 million (that’s US$32 million) from .ai domains in 2023 alone. This also represents over 20% of their entire government revenue—talk about striking digital gold! Anguilla is on a roll.
Anguilla is cashing in big time, with .ai domain registrations jumping from 144,000 to 354,000 in just one year after ChatGPT dropped. We’re talking about a mind-blowing surge from under 50,000 domains in 2020 to over 850,000 today—that’s insane!
HubSpot’s Dharmesh Shah literally dropped $700,000 on a single .ai domain because why not?
Meanwhile, .ai websites have exploded 10x in five years and doubled in just 12 months – the demand is absolutely bonkers.

Anguilla’s charging US$140 for a two-year .ai domain—and people are totally here for it. Even expired domains are pure gold, with “litigate.ai” selling for a whopping US$13,000 at auction last year.
Last year saw 111,639 visitors flocking to Anguilla’s stunning beaches—a record number!
While tourism still brings in 37% of GDP, the .ai boom is giving Anguilla the economic diversification it desperately needed. Smart move, because putting all your eggs in the tourism basket can be risky when global crises hit or a hurricane!
The tiny island of Anguilla is projecting EC$132 million this year and EC$138 million by 2026 – because the AI train isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
