Configuring and adapting sales platforms is currently an expensive and tedious process, but a new startup named Superframe believes its artificial intelligence solution can streamline it.
The company is aiming to disrupt the $32 billion Salesforce service market with a generative AI chatbot-based interface, easy enough that a salesperson with no technical experience can execute changes.
The company today announced $5 million in seed funding, led by Dan Scholnick of Four Rivers Group and Designer Fund, joined by a consortium of angel investors including Essence VC, among others.
The Superframe chatbot will leverage generative AI technology to provide companies with detailed, step-by-step recommendations on how to tweak their sales software based on the questions asked. For example, if a business wants to adjust a component of Salesforce, they can query the chatbot on the exact changes required to safely make the update without issues. This AI assistant is designed to deliver highly accurate answers by generating custom responses, instead of pulling from a fixed database.
The founders say Superframe’s core advantage is being an AI-first company rather than legacy software players scrambling to bolt on AI.
“Every SaaS company is racing to build generative AI features into their products, but most of them miss a critical point: people want AI helpers that cross the artificial boundaries these apps have set for them,” said Derek Steer, CEO of Superframe.
“We’re not making AI for CRM or AI for marketing automation; We’re making AI for revenue operations, and that means working across multiple platforms to serve a variety of needs. Superframe can do this because we are AI-first, not tied to a legacy product.”
Steer was previously the CEO of business intelligence software company Mode Analytics, which was acquired by ThoughtSpot for $200 million.
The startup is entering a competitive space with companies like Demandbase, Metadata, and 6Sense all offering businesses tools to optimize sales through CRM configurations, many beginning to introduce generative AI into the mix.
It is also a possibility that Salesforce may introduce similar generative AI functionality within its CRM, as it has recently expanded its approach to the technology, which may upend the market for Salesforce developers.
However, Superframe believes focusing narrowly on configuring and maintaining Salesforce will give it a competitive edge, with plans to expand to other areas of revenue operations, like marketing automation.
“Our vision here is to make it so that anything you might normally configure in marketing automation software is easily tracked through into CRM such that everything is easily and accurately measurable,” said Steer.
“That’s the biggest problem we hear from Marketers today: getting all the data in the right place and accurately determining attribution.
