Artificial intelligence can help you find a job and advance in your career. AI can write your résumé, automate networking emails, fast-track your job search, cut through the noise, secure interviews and impress hiring managers. It also empowers recruiters to execute their jobs more efficiently and effectively. Chatbots can serve as AI career coaches, offering advice from doing well in an interview to salary negotiations.
In a wide-ranging conversation, LinkedIn vice-president of product management Hari Srinivasan shared dynamic innovations for recruiting and career coaching powered by AI. The new product—Recruiter 2024—aims to enable recruiters and talent acquisition professionals to find on-target candidates for their jobs faster.
The role of recruiters is to find the best, most suitable applicants for the job efficiently. It’s not an easy feat. Search professionals currently need to allocate many hours to sourcing qualified people for the position. This involves elaborate Boolean searches, sending dozens of emails, texting and calling prospective candidates.
“We know from talking to our recruiter customers day in and day out that finding qualified candidates fast is their top priority,” Srinivasan said. “But we also know that getting to that perfect candidate is time-consuming and hard.”
LinkedIn, the go-to site for job seekers and networking, plans to leverage generative AI technology with its insights of more than 950 million professionals, 63 million companies and 40,000 skills on the platform.
The feature will offer a clean interface with a rectangular box in which the recruiter and talent leaders can use natural language and put their hiring goals in their own words. For example, you can write, “I’m searching for a software engineer with 10 years of experience,” and then add some specific skills, background and experiences pertinent to the role. AI combined with LinkedIn’s massive data can produce the candidates the employer desperately seeks.
LinkedIn will offer personalized follow-up prompts to expand or modify the search to narrow the results to the best, most appropriate applicants. The nudges can add new locations, specific skills, whether it’s hybrid, in-office or remote and other factors that the recruiters are looking for in the perfect candidates.
Recruiter 2024 will help free search professionals from many daily rote and repetitive tasks. They can spend more time preparing their candidates for interviews instead of painfully sifting through hundreds of unbefitting résumés. For contingency recruiters, finding the right candidate before your competitors is a race. If they fail in the placement of a candidate, they don’t get paid.
As things change quickly, you’ll be able to stay current and up to date. LinkedIn will roll out career development features and expand its in-demand skill library. Job seekers and professionals looking to advance within their organization or pivot their careers will have access to content built by more than 3,000 career experts.
AI-powered coaching in LinkedIn Learning features a chatbot experience offering both real-time bespoke advice tailored to the content and personalized recommendations for your needs, career goals and questions.
