In with the stupid. Garbage out, garbage in.
Yep. I want my computer to run the apps I choose to run. I do NOT want it to always be connecting to the Internet in the background, sending telemetry and spying on me.
If I want to search for something, I can open a browser and a search engine. Anyone who can’t shouldn’t be allowed to operate a computer anyway.
Asking for myself circa 2016…
Just install an LTSC build. Cortana is excluded along with the Microsoft store.
I turned off its service, but I’d like to remove it fully like in W11. 🙂
Not to mention that Windows search (i.e., the search field on the taskbar) sucks. Whether it’s Cortana, or text results, the search feature often can’t find files with names that match letter for letter what you typed.

I turned off its service, but I’d like to remove it fully like in W11.
I liked Cortana, but I never actually found anything it could do. Sure it could tell jokes and make Halo references, but if I asked it to launch an application, change the volume, shut down the computer, &c., it would give me a generic “I can’t do that” message. What was the point?
Humm, I’m SURE I turned telemetry off!
