OpenAI, the artificial intelligence company backed by billions of dollars from Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), is updating its popular ChatGPT chatbot and bringing the “Browse with Bing” feature to all users.
The app, which was previously limited to information dated to September 2021, is now linked to the internet and offers browsing capabilities via Microsoft’s (MSFT) Bing for all users.
It’s a reintroduction of the feature since when it first was made available it was capable of displaying paywalled content, to the ire of media companies and others.
Now, ChatGPT follows instructions laid out by content owners — essentially, it now promises to adhere to whatever a site-owner said in its Robots.txt file, similar to traditional web crawlers, TechCrunch reported.
OpenAI also transitioned the text-to-image DALL-E 3 tool into beta and users will now be able to get images with their text results without having to switch between apps.
Last month, OpenAI gave ChatGPT a mouth and ears, allowing it to “see, hear and speak” in a new update.
