Best Chatbot In India 2023: This year, the tech industry was loaded with updates around artificial intelligence, especially AI text-spitting chatbots. Apart from the internet’s seasoned king ChatGPT, the world witnessed the arrival of the powerful Gemini large language model by Google to aid its first-generation experiment – Bard. As for social media players, Elon Musk, owner of X (formerly Twitter), started rolling out its ‘rebellious’ Grok for Premium+ users.
Meta boss announced experiments with Llama 2 and Meta AI within its suite of social platforms ranging from Messenger to WhatsApp. As we enter 2024, these models will likely get more competitive in the AI space. So, in case you are still wondering about the best ones that you can try, here are the best picks from the house of renowned tech giants.

Arguably the internet’s favourite AI toy, the OpenAI GPT-based model continues to exit 2023 with flying colours. While the company faced a crisis amid Sam Altman’s startling firing, ChatGPT remains unaffected by the affairs and continues to improve with every passing day.

The GPT-4-backed model can produce impressive texts and remember the background in chats. PCMag labelled the model as the “best AI text generator” out of Bard and Copilot. While the free version lacks live internet browsing, it offers a dedicated app for users to interact smoothly across devices.

Previously intertwined with the company’s search engine Bing, Copilot is the Windows maker’s attempt to combat effectively in this AI race. Besides Bing, the AI innovation also helped revive the fortunes of its Microsoft Edge browser. It offers three conversational modes ranging from more precise, more balanced and more creative.

Other than text-based results, you can also command the model to create images. According to ZDNet, it is one of the best at citing sources in its output for easy verification. This up-to-date model runs on GPT-4 and is a powerful free alternative to ChatGPT Plus.
Launched in early 2023, Bard was Google’s AI endeavour to take on the undisputed dominance of ChatGPT. While it had a rough start in the beginning, the model continues to improve with newer features and underlying changes. Backed by Google, it is up-to-date with data from the internet.
Bard can deliver answers with real-time information and share multiple responses to a query. It is among the best choice for users who simultaneously interact with other Google apps such as Gmail, Docs and more because of its export feature. This allows users to transfer the response to the respective apps and experiment with AI within these platforms.

Moreover, Google recently shipped its “most advanced” large language model (LLM) to date – Gemini. The smallest iteration of the multimodal LLM can run on the latest Pixel 8 Pro. “Bard will use a specifically tuned version of Gemini Pro in English for more advanced reasoning, planning, understanding and more,” according to Google. It currently powers Bard.
Rolling out for X Premium+ users in select territories across the globe, the internet is full of witty and fun responses from Grok. While the output might not be loved by all, the Elon Musk-led xAI model can drag real-time facts using X. According to the company, the model can “also answer spicy questions that are rejected by most other AI systems”. The AI model runs on Grok-1 LLM and lacks multimodal capabilities (at the time of filing).

As for other prominent models, in China, Baidu’s Ernie Bot grabbed massive limelight due to post-launch improvements. According to an HT Tech report, the model performs like ChatGPT and can outperform DALL-E, OpenAI’s image generation tool, but is not as amazing as Midjourney or Stability AI. Meta’s AI projects, such as Meta AI And Llama 2, are in the testing phase and confined to a limited audience. Hence, these did not clock huge eyeballs.
On a side note, Snapchat’s My AI model (available to all users now) received mixed reactions in the initial days of launch. These AI products will likely reach more users after improvements next year. Lastly, do note that none of these models offers pinpoint accuracy. The output requires human evaluation before use for professional projects and assessments.
